Paris – Gaite Lyrique

As you can imagine, Paris is full of art galleries. The Louvre is fantastic but my interest tends towards the contemporary arts. One of my favourites is Gaite Lyrique, a wonderful new venue dedicated to the digital arts. As well as a very large gallery space, it includes a store, cafe, theatre, games area and resource centre. It’s a great place where anyone can experiment, study and experience all forms of contemporary art, music, performance art and digital design.

Calling on London

On arrival at Kings Cross Station, Jacqui immediately went on the hunt for Platform -8 or 12.5 or was it 13 and one third?

Once we found the correct entry, we were magically transported to our final destination.

Our hotel was a bit cheap but beautifully located across the river from some famous houses and right next to a very large eye!

No, this wasn’t our hotel room, just one of the many highly priced items at Harrods.

Giant bear or miniature child?

The “food hall” was amazing and the last thing one expects to find are these rather prickly “pears” from Sicily!

An inviting bench in Hyde Park but no time to rest old chap, Buckingham Palace is just around the corner!

Allo, allo, allo! – what’s in them bags then?

Jacqui with her good friend Pamela who showed us the sites around Covent Garden, Soho and Portobello Road.

WHAAM! One of my favourite places is Tate Modern. It houses many examples of Pop Art which are wonderful to see in the flesh. Above, Roy Lichtenstein and below Andy Warhol and Tom Wesselmann.

Pop Art was a 60′s phenomenon. These days, LED’s are everywhere. Meanwhile, back on the streets spray cans are the weapon of choice.
